French energy group Engie has confirmed that it has launched a strategic review of its upstream and midstream LNG activities, i.e. liquefaction, transport and international trading of LNG. Discussions have started with Total and other counterparties and don't include Engie's downstream LNG activities, such as regasification and LNG ex-terminal sales.
At year-end 2016, Engie held a 16.6% stake in 4 Mt/year Cameron LNG liquefaction plant in the United States. It had an LNG supply portfolio of 16.4 Mt from 6 countries, and operated a fleet of 12 LNG carriers, including two floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs).
