Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) has been keeping Malaysia bright since its inception in the Central Electricity Board in 1949, powering national development via the provision of reliable and efficient electricity. As the largest electricity organization in the country with more than 33,500 employees, we are responsible for the generation, transmission and distribution of power to approximately 8.3 million customers located in Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah and Labuan ? both households and industrials. In 2005, we embarked on a 20-year Strategic Plan to transform the organisation into a world-class player by 2025. The Strategic Plan focuses on talent development and green initiatives such as the development of renewable sources of fuel and energy efficiency. While powering the nation is always a priority, we have also ventured into other areas of businesses ? manufacturing of transformers, high voltage switchgears and cables, professional consultancy services, architectural, civil electrical engineering services, research and development, property development and management services. Our presence can also be seen overseas particularly within Asia-Pacific, Middle East and North African regions. Apart from our core businesses, we also place strong emphasis on social responsibility efforts. We have implemented many initiatives under the Yayasan Tenaga Nasional (YTN); from education to healthcare and community building. Our employees are the main drivers of our CSR efforts.
