Introduction

Key Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSE
Plan, develop, implement and update petrophysical program by application of cost effective logging technologies and perform evaluation of petrophysical logs acquired throughout all phases (exploration, appraisal, development and production) of field life cycle to support Exploration Technology/GeoImaging for the development and implementation of hydrocarbon recovery technology to maximize reserve recovery for sustainability of PETRONAS business growth.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

1) Technology Development

Plan, develop, monitor and review petrophysical technology advancement by studying and assessing in-house technology research and development, technology collaboration with partners, acquisition, outsourcing and benchmarking to ensure continuous availability of matured, cost effective and cutting edge technology solution to support economic and sustainable development and production of hydrocarbon recovery technology at related fields.

2) Logging Program

Plan execute optimum petrophysical logging program by integrating all pertinent subsurface data and applying cost effective technology solution throughout exploration, appraisal, development, production and abandonment phases to support development and implementation of hydrocarbon recovery technology at related fields.

3) Log Interpretation

Plan and conduct timely log interpretation by performing petrophysical log analysis, evaluation and providing petrophysic properties and result to support Exploration Technology/GeoImaging project team to make sound decision for the development and implementation of hydrocarbon recovery technology at related fields.

4) Logging Operation, HSE and Contract Management

Plan and review logging operation by monitoring drilling activities, analyzing petrophysical logs and updating logging plans to ensure optimum and cost effective logging operation.

Enforce PETRONAS Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) policy and procedures by ensuring service contractors comply with safety procedures and regulations as set out in the contract so that all logging activities are conducted in a safe manner to safeguard PETRONAS’ asset and corporate image.

5) Log Database Documentation

Plan and conduct post drilling documentation by capturing all lessons learnt and future recommendations in order to provide PETRONAS with pertinent data for current as well as future business requirements.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Master’s or Ph.D, preferably in geoscience or mathematics. Related professional qualification would be an added advantage
  • Minimum of 7 years of work experience in exploration and development projects and related activities
  • Possess strong working knowledge of well log operations and interpretation skills with the ability to integrate findings within an interdisciplinary team for reservoir study projects.
  • Specific field experience in pre-salts and pre-carbonate fields will be an added advantage
  • Prior work experience with an international upstream operator or service company would be an added advantage
  • Practical hands-on experience in Petrel and related leading industry software applications
  • Excellent in decision making, networking and communications with a team player mindset
