Introduction

PETRONAS is Malaysia's fully integrated petroleum corporation. Our global operations include exploration, development and production of crude oil and natural gas in Malaysia and abroad; liquefaction, sale and transportation of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG); processing and transmission of natural gas and the sale of natural gas products; refining and marketing of petroleum products; manufacture and sale of petrochemical products; trading of crude oil, petroleum products and petrochemical products; and shipping and logistics relating to LNG, crude oil and petroleum products. 

Job Purpose: 
Evaluate and execute well engineering program and activities by application and evaluation of cost effective well technologies for appraisal, development and work-over wells during System Integration and Trade Off Studies (SITOS) to ensure optimum drilling design and economic value of petroleum resources for the development and implementation of hydrocarbon recovery technology to maximize reserve recovery for sustainability of PETRONAS business growth. 

Key Responsibilities

1) Technology Development
Plan, monitor and review wells technology advancement by studying and assessing in-house technology research and development, technology collaboration with partners, acquisition, outsourcing and benchmarking to ensure continuous availability of matured, cost effective and cutting edge technology solution to support economic and sustainable development and production of hydrocarbon recovery technology at related fields.  

2) System Integration Trade Off Study (SITOS) and Field Development Plan (FDP)
Plan, evaluate and execute well engineering activities in conducting and supporting SITOS and FDP study by collaborating with relevant technical disciplines and applying state of the art technology, innovative approach and lesson learnt in order to maximize drilling efficiency during appraisal, development and work-over well activities to ensure optimum drilling design and support economic development of hydrocarbon recovery technology at related fields.

3) Operational Excellence
Plan and implement drilling operation by preparing detail plan, risk assessment and mitigation, monitoring progress, analyzing non-productive time and recommending remedial action to ensure meeting performance target and compliance to health, safety and environment (HSE), regulatory and standards requirement to contribute to overall project economic. 

4) Procurement Document
Plan, prepare and review required procurement documentation by providing well technical criteria and performing technical evaluation on proposals during contractual bidding exercise to ensure competent and cost effective drilling contractors are selected to safeguard successful execution of drilling program. 

5) Capability, Intellectual Property and Knowledge Management
Plan and execute well capability and knowledge management through development and implementation of internal processes and also utilization of enterprise content management (ECM) to ensure retention of valuable knowledge towards establishment of institutionalized capability, exploitation of intellectual properties and providing competitive advantage in venturing into hydrocarbon recovery technology globally.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum Masters or Ph.D in engineering. Related professional qualifications would be an added advantage
  • At least 7 - 15 years of field experience in offshore well design engineering and research, including lab projects
  • Strong understanding of international well engineering standards and technology, including  software applications
  • Specific experience in gas, carbonate or HPHT fields including plug & abandonment projects will be an added advantage
  • Track record in writing or contributing in technical conferences or publication will be added advantage
  • Candidates with prior work experience in leading international upstream service or engineering companies encouraged to apply
  • Possess excellent skills in decision making, communication and networking.
